The Challenge

The client was undertaking development of their next generation traffic monitoring solution and needed a team of highly skilled engineers with strong domain & technical expertise to work alongside their in-house team to develop the solution in a very tight timeframe.

Scalability and reliability was key for this solution, which sampled and analyzed large volumes of live network traffic presenting real-time characterisation to the end user.

The Solution

Amartus provided a senior team of engineers to work alongside the client team supporting them in key areas of architecture and engineering.

The solution consisted of a set of network appliance’s distributed throughout a network to capture live network traffic and report status to network operators via a Web based GUI. The Amartus team were responsible for development of a number of key components including an SNMP Agent for the network appliance (NMS integration), a Web User interface / Web GUI Framework for fine grained reporting and a Server Manager and IPC mechanism to manage and control processes. The solution was built using Java / C++ with a Web based GUI deployed on Jetty running on a Linux platform.

The solution incorporated many frameworks & components built for performance, reliability and extensibility.
